Terms of Service
These terms govern use of the Doubting My Own Mind website and public content. Coaching has additional terms that apply separately.
Last updated: 26 September 2026
1. Acceptance
By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service and the policies linked from them. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
2. What this website provides
Doubting My Own Mind publishes lived-experience writing, educational content, information about the book Doubting My Own Mind, and information about a paid recovery-coaching service.
Website content is not psychotherapy, psychiatric care, medical treatment, legal advice, specialist domestic-violence intervention, or emergency support.
3. Public identity and pen name
The site is written and operated publicly under the pen name Jared Hayes. The use of a pen name is intended to protect privacy. It does not mean that a coaching client will be required to interact with an unknown person. The operator may disclose legal identity privately where reasonably necessary for a client relationship, payment, compliance, or a valid legal request.
4. The book and external purchases
Book purchases are completed on third-party marketplaces such as Amazon. Their pricing, availability, delivery, returns, refunds, account requirements, and purchase terms are governed by the marketplace, not by this website.
5. Coaching
Submitting the coaching fit form does not guarantee acceptance, create an obligation to book, or create a therapist-client relationship. If coaching proceeds, the separate Coaching Terms and Cancellation & Refund Policy apply.
6. Your submissions
Do not use forms on this site to upload unlawful material, threaten another person, impersonate someone, submit unnecessary sensitive information about third parties, or attempt to misuse the service.
You remain responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of information you choose to submit.
7. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the site’s original writing, branding, design elements, and coaching materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. You may read, link to, quote briefly with attribution where lawful, and use public content for personal non-commercial purposes.
You may not reproduce substantial portions of the site or book, republish paid or private materials, scrape the site at scale, create misleading derivative copies, or use the content to impersonate the author or service without permission.
8. External links and services
The site may link to Amazon, government resources, booking services, messaging platforms, videos, or other third-party websites. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not guarantee the accuracy, safety, availability, or suitability of the third-party service.
9. No guarantee of accuracy or results
Reasonable care is taken with site content, but lived-experience writing and educational material may not apply to every person or relationship. Information can become outdated. No specific personal, relationship, financial, legal, medical, or recovery outcome is guaranteed.
10. Availability and changes
The site or any feature may be changed, suspended, removed, or updated. These terms may also be updated. Continued use after an updated version is published means you are using the site under the updated terms.
11. Liability and mandatory rights
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the site is provided without a promise that it will meet every user’s needs or remain error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable consumer, privacy, or other mandatory law.
12. Questions about privacy
For privacy or personal-data matters, use the Privacy Request form. Coaching enquiries should use the coaching fit form.
